Happy New Year to you!
It’s that time when I tell myself every year that I’m not going to make any New Year’s resolutions because they last all of two weeks (and that’s on a good year) before I totally fudge them up, mainly because they’re completely ridiculous and unattainable. So, the more I read over the last week or so from other writers who are setting goals and targets for themselves for 2018, the more I thought that, if I’m going to do something ludicrous, it may as well be related to the thing I love best in the whole world: books.
Some of you may remember me mentioning previously that I participated in NaNoWriMo a few years ago and wrote three books simultaneously during one mad November (to be quite honest, I wouldn’t recommend being as crazy as that; the after-effects of aiming for 150,000 words in a month were not pleasant. I was really quite ill). However, I have decided to set myself a goal of half a million words for the year. Does that sound a bit potty? Maybe, but I know authors who have set themselves a target of one million words. Being one for challenges, I did seriously contemplate it, but with everything I have going on right now, that would be so out of reach as to be a pointless goal. But half a million? Yeah, I’ll give that a go.
The one other writerly goal I have set myself is with regard to publishing. I was very resistant to putting my work ‘out there’ last year, for various reasons. But I have a compilation of last year’s work, some finished and some unfinished, some barely started, and also the books I have been working on for some time. It really is important as a writer to do one of two things: finish what you start, or decide the project is a no-go and have the courage to abandon it. I have fifteen projects of my own (not counting any I will publish for other authors through Clarian Press) that I want out in the world, so my goal is to publish all fifteen this year. Does that sound utterly ludicrous? I’m positive that it does. But if I don’t aim to do it, I’ll keep sitting on the work, nursing it, never letting anyone read it. I have one book in particular which I call my baby. After ten years, it really should be able to wander about a bit on its own!
I rarely talk about my personal life on my blog, but it’s going to be a tumultuous and uncertain year, one way and another. So, will I manage to achieve my goals? I want to. And right now, that’s a good start.
And my biggest goal: To give you as many sexy, passionate, thoughtful stories to read as I possibly can!
So, let me start with giving you a little freebie. The first 10,000 words of my D/s erotic romance, The Coming of Eve, about a first-time sub with a penchant for tempting her Dom in a power game she doesn’t understand, is available to download from Instafreebie here.
When Eve finds herself hungry and lost in Adam’s garden, little does she realise that his sexy punishment for trespassing is exactly what she’s been waiting for. Invited to spend time at Eden House, she’s sure that acting as submissive to his dominating nature will be a whole lot of fun. Tempting him seems lots of erotic fun, too, but it quickly becomes clear that Adam has very different plans. This is a hot and steamy power game where the stakes are high, and she feels she’s losing control.
When Eve is no longer sure what she wants, can Adam yield to her temptation and show her where the balance of power really lies?
And just an extra little New Year freebie for you, if you’re quick – and behind me in time zone! I’m all about the freebies today! 🙂 If you don’t already have a copy of Lilitu, my paranormal erotic romance (maybe more erotic than romantic!), you can download it FREE on Amazon today. If you’re a Kindle Unlimited member, however, you can download it for free anytime.
